The FIM has released the provisional calendar for the 2015 MotoGP Championship. Once again the schedule features 18 rounds, identical to the 2014 schedule.
The only difference on the 2015 calendar is the British Grand Prix – slated for August 30 – will be held at Donington instead of Silverstone.
The opening round at Qatar scheduled for March 29 will once again be held in the evening due to the hot desert temperatures, and the Netherlands round will be held on Saturday. The series will conclude at Valenica November 8.
Last season the Autodromo Internacional Nelson Piquet circuit in Brazil’s capital of Brasilia was supposed to appear on the schedule, but the track did not make homologation. Last year we reported that track officials said there would be a “full rebuilding project on the Brasilia circuit” completed by mid 2014. But the Brazil round is yet to be added to the 2015 MotoGP Schedule.
This will be the second consecutive year the MotoGP Championship will visit the Termas de Rio Honda circuit in Argentina, which replaced Laguna Seca. As for the American rounds, the Circuit of the Americas in Texas is scheduled for April 12, and Indianapolis Motor Speedway for August 9.
The 2015 MotoGP Championship will be historic as two manufacturers will make their return – Suzuki and Aprilia.
