Australian Federal Police Job Vacancies Update

The Australian Federal Police (AFP) is the principal law enforcement agency through which the Australian Government pursues its law enforcement interests. The AFP is unique in Australian law enforcement in that its functions relate both to community policing and to investigations of offences against Commonwealth law enforcement in Australia and overseas.

The nature of the AFP and what is required of it, has changed significantly in recent years. The AFP has responded to a rapidly changing environment and this has required a greater focus on national and international operations.

The new challenges the AFP faces include counter terrorism, human trafficking and sexual servitude, cyber-crime, peace operations, protection and other transnational crimes.

To help meet these challenges, the AFP has implemented a new organisational structure. The structure focuses on AFP's main operational areas and provides a higher level of national coordination and support to these areas.

The AFP is committed to recruiting from the diverse groups that make up Australian society. We believe that all Australians should have the opportunity to compete for careers in the AFP without being disadvantaged by gender, race, ethnicity, disability or other difference.

A career with the AFP can take you into the community, across the country or around the globe.

Combating local crime in the ACT, cracking national e-crime scams, investigating international drug syndicates, working with other law enforcement agencies on counter terrorism, heading overseas to liaison posts or peacekeeping missions, or providing non-policing support-it's one job, with a million possibilities.
